Located in the extension of clay and limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Roquevieille produces structured wines, fine and harmonious giving full expression of its terroir.
A family of wine-growers from father to son for several generations, Jean- Pierre Palatin acquired Domaine du Château Roquevieille from Monsieur Gilet in 1972. Côtes de Castillon cuvee excellence which lacks neither power nor complexity, is vinified by the talented Thomas Guibert, winemaker of Château de Ferrand (Saint-Emilion Grand Cru), shows much similarity with the prestigious appellation in the neighborhood.
GRAPE VARIETY : 85% Merlot – 15% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon
APPELLATION : Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux
SOIL : Clay-Sandy and Limestone
WINEMAKING : Harvest by hand with a rigorous selection at the maximum maturity. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts to exalt the characteristics of the terroir, and a long maceration and fermentation of about six weeks in cement vats.
AGEING IN BARREL : 12 months on French oak
AGEING POTENTIAL IN BOTTLE : 10 years
COLOR : Intense Ruby color
NOSE : Ripe black fruits, blackcurrant and cherry and notes of spices
MOUTH : Very Fruity and complex with an excellent balance and fine tannin
SERVICE : Between 16 & 18ºC
FOOD PARING : Any red meat, poultry and cheese
